The LIMCAF Residency is an exciting new program launched in 2025 to support early-career artists through mentorship, creative exploration, and exhibition opportunities. Building on LIMCAF’s legacy, this residency provides space, resources, and guidance to help artists refine their practice and push creative boundaries.
With a focus on innovation and storytelling, the program nurtures emerging talent and offers a platform for artistic growth, shaping the future of contemporary art in Africa.
Residency Details
· Type: Open to 2D artists, 3D sculptors
· Eligibility: Open to all artists who have participated in any LIMCAF exhibition (regional or grand finale) between 2019 and the present
· Age Requirement: Applicants must be under 35 years old as of May 2025
· Announcement of selected resident: May 18th, 2025
· Proposed Date: June 2nd to July 13th, 2025
· Duration: 6 weeks
· Number of Artists: 2 artists will be selected
Application Requirements
· Proposal: Submit a detailed proposal (maximum 750 words) outlining your planned project during the residency.
· Portfolio: Include 10 samples of your previous artworks with details (clear images in PDF or JPEG format).
· Supporting Information: Provide a CV, including Artist biography and a short artist statement (150 words)
Selection Criteria
· Artistic innovation and originality
· Relevance of the proposed project to the residency objectives
· Quality of past work
· Feasibility of project within the 5 – 6-week timeframe
